I am using a borrowed laptop but cannot sign up to gmail as when I log in the gmail of owner comes up. Cannot find any button to log out or change user or add user . Help please

Top right of the gmail page - either a small picture of the other user or a blue circle with a head in it.

Click on that and you get the option to log out or add another account.

just make sure the owner doesn't mind being signed out. A lot of people have no idea what password they used, and rely on being logged in automatically.

Or use a different browser.

Or create a new windows account (easy to do) and use that.

Then when you have finished delete the Windows user account and all (most) traces of what you did will disappear.
