Home and contents insurance renewal reminder plopped on the mat this morning. Thought it was a bit steep so phoned them up. Remarkably they were able to bring it down by £60. Is insurance just a big con?

They'll always try to get as much out of you as they possibly can - it's a frustrating game every year :(

Yep Maggie.
Had my renewal notice from my long term Insurance company last week, which had gone up from £58, to £126.

Phoned them 2 days ago, and its gone down to £65!!!!

Frustrating isn't it, Maggie.......last year when I phoned to say my car insurance quote was a bit steep they brought it down to less than the renewal quote...

This week I phoned again..... they said they hadn't given me the discount for having and M&S credit card......and down it came....☺
I didn't know there was a discount for having their card.....x

I always switch my insurances with different companies every year. Existing Customers do not get better deals anymore :-(

It's a game they play.

You ring up and they bring the price down.

You thank them and feel victorious, but are still paying more than last year.

Not always, Hoppy.....I have got them down to less than the previous year......Okay....he may just have wanted rid of me....but......☺
