Is it possible for a cortisone injection, for example - into the hip joint, to have any kind of mind altering effects please?
I ask because a pal's hubby is refusing them on the grounds the injections leave him grumpy and cross for weeks afterwards.
Thank you.
Never heard of any effects on the mind,I've had them a few times.
They can be painful for a while though, so possibly he had a painful reaction and that made him grumpy.
Ok thanks, I had no idea it could do this, never experienced that myself and have had a good few. Will report back to her, I said I would ask on here. :)
I've had cortisone injections in several joints. Hubby had one last year int his hip under sedation. No after effects at all other than be free from pain for a few months. The his was replaced end of last year.
Anything can happen in the practice of medicine.
The side effects that your husband is having being due to steroid injection........very unlikely......very unlikely.
qualified with - at this dose
and where it is - in the joint ( or intra-articular ) would cause it to leak out slowly
yes at the dose I get - 90 mg Pred a day for five days
one of pred equals 40 of cortisone - so that is 3600 mg equiv of cortisone. Skeep disturbance from day one and feel pretty mad days 3 4 and 5.
and finally - - - -
he's the patient and what he says goes .....
if he doesnt want them - then dont have them
it is his body and his choice .....
