To leave the EU with exactly the same relationship in trade we currently have.

To have exactly the same trade deal is to be in the EU.

Therefore the Labour Party is setting out very early that they are going to vote against the final deal. Is this a vote winner for them or are they shooting themselves in the foot?

I don't need to google anything Zac it is Labour who need to do that. They are on some cloud somewhere.

It just seems to me they are not being realistic but must think it is a vote winner for them.

There must surely be Labour supporters who realise what an impossible condition this is?

Yep, if we don't get exactly what we want out of the deal, we'll have no deal whatsoever.
It's no wonder they feck the economy up every time they get a bit of power. (luckily, it'll never happen again)

It's perfectly possible for a country to be outside of the EU but to have exactly the same trading arrangements as full EU member states do. Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway all do it, as members of the EEA. Switzerland also does it without even belonging to the EEA.

However the one thing which the EU insists upon for those trading relationships to remain in place is that those four countries all accept the same 'freedom of movement' rules which apply across the EU.

You can't have one without the other.

I don't believe that is so.

The essence of trade is negotiation - each side working out what they want from the deal, and what they are willing to give to get what they want.

The rest is just details - but rest assured, we will trade with Europe because Europe wants and needs to trade with us.

The way I see it, it is not so much a trade deal the remoaners want it is the free movement of people.
As has been pointed out lots of times we will get a trade deal of some description and TBH unless we have to pay too a heavy cost it will be reasonable to good.

So what is the problem?

I believe the problem for the political remainers is that they will lose their privileged positions as movers and shakers when their power base ceases to exist.
