Best colour for a music room?
12 Answers
I'm about to convert my 2nd bedroom into a music room/studio (lucky me!), but I'm stumped as to what colour to paint it. I tend to go for neutral paints, what with being young and modern, but I'd really like to pick a colour which inspires creativity. I've had a bit of musical mental block lately and if picking the right colour makes a difference, then I'm willing to go with it. All suggestions/explanations welcome!

You need to explore your current nuances of feeling and direction by delving deeper into your consciousness. You could try googling works on synaesthisia and stimulating all your senses. Sitting in your room will not help you whatever colour it is...especially if you are into disco.
If you are a serious musician you should be looking here :)

blue - calming and inspiring. personally i like FIRT DAWN, BLUE BABE and BLUE LAGOON. or u could go for a feature wall in something like SAPPHIRE SPRINGS and keep the other 3 walls in something neutral like BARLEY WHITE. all these paints r from the DULUX range

Yeah CROSSO, this is a serious question.
The reason I put it in this section was cos it's more about inspiration than decoration, so more body&soul than home&garden. I'm not suffering from frustration or anything, just haven't been as creative lately as I usually am so wondered if there are certain colours which aid creativity. My girlfriend's feng shui book suggest yellow, but I really can't stand yellow rooms so I'd DEFINITELY be frustrated with that! She's suggested pinning pictures/cuttings of things which inspire me on a board, or just having a really big painting on one wall, rather than relying on one specific colour. Maybe this is the wrong section, but the fact that there's responses already is fine by me!

Thanks for the link, PhilBy, but I already have all the gear I need. 4 guitars, 2 amps, a synth, a pc, hard disc multitrack, pc, mics etc... The problem being, they're all in my living room and I think that's part of the creativity problem. I feel bad playing stuff there cos it means my girlfriend can't watch tv or sit and read, which relegates her to the spare room and portable. Or maybe I should just ditch the girlfriend ;)
