As E-Types are so very popular why doesn't Jaguar 're-issue' a new E-type? Same body, better engine, electrics and bodywork.

What happened to Austin, dont they make cars anymore ?

Tambo....the name still exists, but is now Chinese-owned apparently.

"The Austin Motor Company Limited was an English manufacturer of motor vehicles, founded in 1905 by Herbert Austin. In 1952 it was merged with Morris Motors Limited in the new holding company British Motor Corporation (BMC) Limited, keeping its separate identity. The marque Austin was used until 1987. Tambo....I first learned to drive when I was a young chap with BT. I learnt in a green Morris 1000 van ! It was in 1971 or 1972.
In those days, BT and Royal Mail had their own Instructors and examiners, although I am not sure if that is the case now.

I was sent on a intensive, week long driving course, with another apprentice. There was a little dicky seat in the back and he and I would change over every couple of hours. The Instructor would fall asleep, but would mysteriously wake up, if you went over 30 in a built up area !

"Slow down boy", he would mutter, before going back to sleep !

Jaguar Land Rover currently buys and refurbishes early Land Rovers and three door Range Rovers, incredibly expensive. They are now doing the same with E-Types that includes improved electrics and cooling, cost £250,000. Also, as they are returned to factory spec, the colours are fixed as they left the factory so no choice there.
