if one person was struck and had a bad head injury the person who was found guilty can they be guilty of two charges gbh with intent and wounding with intent i though it would be one or the other he was charged with gbh with intent

In the USA, assault and battery. Assault is the attempt to hit, battery is the actual hitting. Are these the same? The law says no, separate.
