a remarkable set of photos, my mum and grand parents would recognise them i am sure.

Indeed as I do vividly.
Quite impressive looking photographs. I was surprised to see in a couple of them that the pilots were unhurt, the planes look pretty mangled to me.

I think that they attempted to bomb a railway tunnel situated less than a mile from here. Craigie/Moncrieffe/Perth tunnel - not sure what they called it back then.

Thanks Dave, I forgot that it was also called Friarton tunnel. My mum had many stories about the war - all seen through the eyes of a young child. She may have elaborated on some of the facts in her stories. :-)
