I went down to the White Water Rafting Centre yesterday (the one built for the Olympics in Lee Valley), it was very impressive, you can just go in and have a wander round. There were loads of people having a go and It looked great, I'm trying to talk some friends into coming with me but not having much luck (cowards). Boo hoo, even hubbie said no cos you have to wear a tight suit thing.

Can you not go on your own. Its great fun and they look after you well. We went to a place near Bala in N. Wales. Free lance gorge running is even better but you can pick up bruises.

I'm a bit of a baby like that seadogg, would much rather do it with others. My son is desperate to have a go but you have to be 14 and he's only 12, otherwise I would go with him. I'll just have to wait 18 months til he's old enough.
i have tickets for the slalom canoeing final. - is it easy to get to?

The park & ride will be in North Weald or Hertfordshire University and I think you have to book. It's then a bit of a drive to the centre, there are residential streets opposite the entrance but I would imagine that some kind of enforcement will be put in place. If you can suffer the train it will be very simple, Liverpool St to Waltham Cross (about 30 mins, maybe less), then a very straightforward walk for 5 mins. There is a long stay car park in Waltham Abbey, then you will have a straightforward 5-10 min walk, but if it's a Tuesday forget it as it's market day and the car park will have lots of vans. When it becomes clearer about parking restrictions round here, I'll have a look and see where the best place for you to park will be.
Its depends on your own personality as how much u r comfortable with water sports, if u are strong enough to enjoy of your own, or can join another group as well, but still the rafting company itself has many guides, who will help u in all situation, the best one who can help you in all aspects are www.madadventures.com or www.shoprma.com
