Most of my posting are in the Technology Section of AB and there I think that Feed-back is important for future reference of Techies. The same can also apply to all other sections of AB.

Let's get matters in perspective by my admitting that my knowledge of Technical matters has evolved from reading what AB's Top Techies have said and noting the feed-back involved.

However, some folk will post a question and, after having been given a few suggestions, will come back with something along the lines of .."Thanks, everything now working ok". However, because of a lack of real feed-back, no-one knows who provided the solution to the problem.

no, i wouldnt agree

Agreed Hans,
If you don't know the solution that actually worked then it's not a lot of use tbh.
I must admit that if I have posted proper information in answer to a question, I do like to know that the OP has seen it.
'tis only good manners after all !!
I sometimes wonder if new posters realise that their questions are responded to by living beings and not 'bots' hence the lack of thanks, gratuitous grovelling and whatever responders seek

@bednobs....A little bit of 'feed-back' would be appreciated as to why you have said..."no, i wouldnt agree "....A comma-less comment, I observe.

Hans.
Quite agree Hans. Whenever I have posed a specific question aimed at solving a problem I always return to the thread to say whether the solution worked or not. I also do so to say thanks for taking the trouble to reply, even if the solution was not successful. I think it's called good manners, but I may be out of touch,
Feedback IS important - not so much the praise or the thanks (though that is nice) but, as Hans says, it is useful for other people to know if the solution worked, or the recommendation was good or bad.

my reason is that the person has got the answer to their question - the whole purpose of the site
isn't that the point of best answer..
I have been banging on about feedback for about 8 years and all I have had is a load of abuse.
Some ABers just forget, but other ABers (the same ones) are repeated maldoers, but i am glad to say that the few that do have a repartee with posters make AB worth while.
Hans....don't bother complaining, as AB will never change, I just have a list of ABers that i will not involve myself with their threads.
bednobs, I think part of the aim of the site is to have an archive of helpful tips in answer to questions. If the OP doesn't specify what worked, it's no use to people searching for advice about their own problems. They don't have to respond if they don't want to, but it would be a small courtesy.
Yes, feedback is important, if only to annoy those who think it isn't. :)

Thanks you all for having responded to my question.

I am comforted by the fact that nine out of ten Abers consider feedback is important.

Hans.
I think feedback is important. In crossword and quizzes. Also in medical. I have used sqad's help and advice on a couple of occasions, without him urging me to see the Doc, I would have been in a mess. It's only polite to report back with the outcome.. Let's face it in real life if you ask someone's advice you expect some form of feedback?
