I am trying to find a UK retail supplier of the sugar substitute sucralose whichch is sold under the brand name of Splenda.
This is said to be 600 times sweeter than sugar and is suitable for use by diabetics.
I would prefer it to be granulated exactly the same way as granulated sugar as I wish to use to use it to sweeten coffee.
Tablets would do, but I have read that those sold in supermarkets often contain 95% maltadextrin and only 5% sucralose.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
0.00986565 ml of sucralose is equivalent to one teaspoonful.
Therefore it would be impossible for you to measure the amount to put in your coffee unless the sucralose is diluted with some other substance, such as maltodextrin.
I'm not awake enough to think about this question properly but you may want to have a look in Boots or a health food shop like Holland and Barrett. Or your diabetic nurse.
A friend of mine licked his fingers after using that concentration for sweetening soft drinks in bulk - he got out of hospital about 3 days later after something akin to a catatonic state.
No sugar substitute is good for you. Far better to wean yourself off sugar in your coffee completely - once you do you'll never be able to drink sweet coffee again, it'll taste like coffee flavoured syrup.
