yes, why not?
That's a difficult one to answer, I am proud of my Scottish heritage but not particularly proud of Britain as it stands today.
I am just not sure why I should feel proud of something that I did nothing to achieve? I am proud of my parents who came from deprived backgrounds and saw all of their kids go on to professional qualifications, I am proud of what my hard work and application has achieved, ditto for my siblings and so on.....but being born English well that’s pretty much a genetic accident. Now ask me if I am proud of Britain and England and I will give you a different answer.

Unless you have done something that you are not proud of then of course you can be proud of the country you were born in.

The country is just a land mass and static, it is the humans who have made that piece of land what it is, and if it has turned out to be a place that you can be proud of, then that is all down to those who have made it so, and that includes yourself, others and those who have gone before you.

And why would that be?

and that is my point precisely....I am proud of my country but that is different from saying that I am proud to be a native of that country.
Pride is one of the seven deadly sins.
Never British, always Scottish
Tuvok....if you are Scottish, then you must, be definition, also be British.
I never think about it, just want to be a good person.
Sometimes. The country is fine, although most change seems not to be for the better (luckily some changes get undone, but nowhere near enough). On the other hand the behaviour of some of my fellow citizens does not live up to expectations and cause shame to us all.
