Sitting nicely moored on a pontoon. A large hired boat came along and decided to moor up next to us, he kept trying to reverse in but couldn't do it, on trying to move out and moor further along he gave our bow a mighty crash. At the time we were talking to a fellow Brit who lives on his boat. He went round to the front of our boat and had a look. The boat had split the fibreglass around the anchor point. We had paid a damage deposit of €300.
I said to neighbour I suppose we will have to forfeit that. He told us to phone our boatyard in the morning. He would be a witness we had no part in it. I found a damage form in with our paperwork, I filled it in and neighbour signed it too. He reckons they will send someone out very quickly tomorrow.
What next I wonder!
Well we're not far apart, Tony......we could join you and Mrs AV for a canal trip......I will confess that the only time I did it a huge tree came down in front of out boat.......and we had to turn around.....and we had no pole to do it....luckily my friend was on crutches so we used those....there were weeds coming out of the holes in her crutches for days afterwards...but it was fun if you fancy it..... :-)
