He seemed to be becoming more uncomfortable about the investigation and how Ros was determined to keep the young lad on the hook for it.
If I remember right, I think the final straw was when she didn't take to the team the forensic evidence given to Ros that the second lot of Leoni's body parts had newspaper with them which was dated to after the young lad was locked up so it couldn't be him (alone anyway, though they were trying to tie him to working with Tim). The forensic lady mentioned to the bearded guy about a team briefing to go over the new evidence which is where he found out about it and then knew that Ros hadn't taken the information to the team, probably hiding it as it didn't fit with their charging of the young lad.

Awww Thanks Eve for taking the time to write all that xx this is the first series I've ever watched and I think I even missed the 1st episode of this one so I'm really not familiar with the characters names. The dead Guy who had his fingers chopped off - Ros was convinced he'd done something wasn't she? And wasn't he about to cut her up when she woke up??
The link with the top copper and the pregnant lady who has just legged it on early maternity leave from AC12! Wondering if that is a bit of a red herring to make us think he could be the high up police officer linked to the Caddy. Could it be his baby even from an affair? He seemed keen enough to try and woo Ros in to an affair. He used to work at the police station where Tony Gates was (if I remember that right?) and she seemed new (or just not seen before) so they could have worked together previously. Mind you, she would have more likely known Dot then though as he as there too, was there a connection with them, save him trying to get her to keep evidence from Steve.
No worries :) I only watched all of the seasons recently myself. So good! There are bits from previous seasons popping up so imagine bits can be a bit confusing if you haven't seen all of them.

Ah, it doesn't explain very well, sorry! Ros is lead officer on a number of murder investigations. There was a "live" abduction in similar circumstances (balaclava man!) which ended up (after a police chase) in a burning house with the victim tied up inside. The house was where the young lad in prison lived (his nan's house I think), hence getting him for the crimes.
Ros was in charge of the scene and went in to rescue the victim (the waitress they have how got for Tim's murder). Tim found forensic evidence that jewellery linking the house to the previous incidents could have been planted, including an additional footprint at the scene. He tried to go to Ros, who ignored him, so he went to AC12.
She was none too impressed about being reported to AC12. I hope I have remembered all that right!

No worries :) At this rate I'll still be awake (and very grumpy) as someone is playing really really loud heavy dance music with a heavy base, sounds like one of those proper sound systems. Been going on for hours and I'm so hoping they pack it in before I go to bed soon. I'm no killjoy but it's really loud! Just got to avoid all spoilers then before watching it in the morning.
