I don't particularly warm to the parents, but I have no reason to suspect them. Their marriage would not have survived the strain of the last 10 years if either or both of them were involved in any way; nor would they have fought so long to keep the mystery in the public eye.
I didn't watch it as I find Kate and Gerry's distress upsetting.
Having committed the 'perfect' murder, i.e. there is no evidence, only finger-pointing, whispering and suspicion.......why on earth would you invite the rest of the world to play detective and uncover your misdeed?
People are transferring their personal dislike of this couple into groundless suspicion.

I agree wr and I also think Maddie is dead, although I'd love to be wrong of course. Kate McCann is just a shadow of her former self now and I personally suspect that this is because she knows deep down that the children should not have been left alone. That's how I see it anyway. I didn't watch the programme either.
