Urgent Can I Get My Jobseekers Backdated If Im Misinformed About Changing Benefit?
5 Answers
I had been claiming JSA for a while due to part time work finishing, and unfortunately had a period of illness due to work finishing. I was told I could put in a claim for ESA by mistake by someone when it was meant to be an EPS (Extended Period of Sickness - where you can hand a sick note in), they told me it was a mistake AFTER I closed my JSA claim and was told after i closed it Not to and to do a rapid reclaim and backdate it from 28/4/17 which I did, I was then told my sick note had been destroyed rather than passed on and I wasnt allowed any backdate, I now have gone nearly a month without pay and had to write for a reconsideration, would my claim be backdated? I'd rather be back at work than put up with this palaver but ya gotta survive.

If the fit note (sick note) has gone missing, have you not asked for a duplicate from the doctor? You would need a fit note for the EPS anyway so if it went missing you'd not have had the EPS either.
The point of the EPS is to avoid having to come off JSA, claim ESA and then claim JSA when fit for work. It is an option to remain on JSA but you also have the option to claim ESA instead.
