I bought mine at the Ideal Home Exhibition in the 80's and still have it! It's been tucked away at the back of my cupboard for years because I was unable to locate a stockist to swop the old gas cyclinder for a full one. Have searched the net for any reference to Clearline but with no luck so must now throw it out - unless anyone has any more info.
Well, there is this site: http://www.sodastreamalternative.com, but it does not name a company from back in the 80'ies. Nevertheless, it is a site dedicated to SodaStream Alternatives.

I see that the link to the other company is broken. This is the correct link (without the comma at the end). sorry guys! http://www.sodastreamalternative.com

It was the Merri-Mix, I designed the mechanism and it won a Design Council award and a couple of patents were granted. I think it started as a Sprklets project but then spun off to Clearline Home and Leisure. I still have one at home but don't think you can get gas canister refills any longer.
I do remember us all being full of fizzy drinks when we had the first prototypes made! Cheers John T
