Squad, I Would Really Appreciate Your Expert Opinion On This.

In March, as some on here may recall, I had a bad fall whilst in Malta. Having seen my doctor, a physiotherapist and had an ultra sound scan, it turns out that I have snapped a bicep tendon and a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. The physiotherapist is arranging for me to see a specialist to advise on the next step. However, the physio says that because of my age it is unlikely the specialist will want to operate and stitch them back together. He said it would be like stitching cotton wool. This has really upset me as I have very limited use of my right arm now, definitely can't do anything with an outstretched arm. Will this mean I will be like this all the time now? Or will it just take a long time to heal itself?

I presume that you are right handed.
The specialist will certainly want to convince himself and you that physiotherapy isn't helping and if this is the case then surgery will be required.As it is only a matter pf weeks since the injury the specialist may well shy away from surgery giving conservative treatment a good "crack of the whip."
You age should not make surgery any more difficult or hazardous than anyone else.

Don't expect quick results Clarion, rotator cuff and shoulder injuries are often slow to heal.
