When a man decides to spend most of the day listening to or watching a sport they will fall asleep.....you're sure they are asleep.....eyes closed....mouth open.....gentle snores......the muttering of a name you don't recognise......ignore the dribble....
Now you can make as much noise as you like......glugging the wine.....sneezing....washing the dishes....click clacking the knitting needles......singing along with Rod Stewart in the next room......the kid in the flat upstairs is learning to play the violin and clog dance at the same time......
Nothing stirs the man.......until......
You turn off the sport......!
Then they leap up as if you've set fire to their pants and declare....
Hey! I was listening to that!!!!!
So...pretending all along to be asleep?....and if not what the hell is it that wakes them in an instant when the sport goes off?..... :-)
We went for a nap. I Woke up and he was asleep beside me snoring. Next time I open my eyes he's walking in the room with two beers because the football is about to start. Nothing for me :-(
They were taking it in.
You can get tapes containing lessons you can listen to as you sleep. Same principle.
Extraneous noise can be filtered out, turning off the data stream is a jolt to the brain.
I'd be watching a program and he'd be fast asleep and snoring but the minute I get up and leave the room, even for a second, he's wide awake, grabs the remote and change the channel. It's all an act.
