Son is so tired since starting nursery.
My son has just had his first week at nursery-only two mornings a week though wed and Fri 9-12pm. After the friday session he was extremely tired, yet refused to nap that day and he fell asleep on my lap ending up missing dinner and having an early night. That night was abit disturbed and the weekend he was tired aswell and has started to perk up today (sunday). Is two mornings too much for my son at first giving this environment is so new?Any advice from others experiences would be great.

Both my girls started nursery at about 3, and both were extremely tired after their morning sessions, however, they soon got used to it, and it only lasted a couple of weeks. I'd let the nursery staff know of your concerns, I'm sure they will keep an eye on him and tell you if they think hes coping ok with it.
Our daughter's 2 1/2 and has been going to nursery 3 1/2 days a week since she was 6 months old. She gets dropped off at 8.30 and picked up at 5.30. Somedays she has a nap but other days she goes right through. The most important thing is not to let her sleep once she gets home.
We work hard on keeping her entertained in the garden etc until 6pm when we start bath/book/bed at 7 routine.
She normally then flakes out and sleeps well until time for Milkshake in the morning!
It can be seasonal though. Much harder to keep her going if she's been swimming at nursery (far more tired) and when the nights start drawing in.
I'm sure that he your little one starts a weekly routine then things will get easier
Hi, you don't mention how old your son is so I am assuming he is around the age of 3.
I am a kindergarten teacher at present in a Steiner Waldorf kindergarten. I also have two young children so have experience of your situation.
if he has just started then he will be very tired, taking in the routine of his nursery. It's a little like when you start a new job but more of a big deal for your child.Depending on his age 2 mornings should be fine and he will settle into the routine after a couple of weeks. Be prepared though after a couple of weeks for him toprotest and cry about going there. This is very normal once he realises it is a permanent thing. As long as you trust his teacher the best thing to do is walk away and let them handle it. Children stop crying once you are outof sight. Staying increases their anxiety as they know you are unsure.
Nursery should be a gentle transition from home. Too much stimulation isn't good for a child, they don't need it. The world is stimulating enough for a child without hot housing them. They are little for such a short time. Why not look into Steiner Waldorf education if you do feel he is too tired and it is disturbing him.
Good luck
I guess this is normal though, the tiredness, especially at the beginning as it's all new and playing tires them out so much.
Hope this has been of some help to you. x
