The Conservative Party's former chief strategist, Steve Hilton, has called on Theresa May to resign over cuts to police and security services.

This also comes at a time when a former chief inspector for the Met and by the former head of special branch in Belfast have both slammed May's cuts to the services as damaging Britain's security:

No certainly not. Mrs May, as Home Secretary, was forced by the Cameron/Osborne cabal to implement the cuts she made. Significant budget cuts were made to police (and other) budgets whilst the ludicrous 0.7% Overseas "Development" budget - enshrined in law - remained unscathed.

Spot on, as usual, NJ. The enshrining of the ridiculous OD budget is yet one more thing that makes my blood boil - it should be halved immediately, just as a start. I don't think it gives us 'soft power' as is often claimed, just makes us a 'soft touch'. Ethiopian girl band, anyone?
