Ants

I have ants getting into my kitchen and crawling all over the work surface . Can anyone tell me how to get rid of them and do they spread and nasty ailments

I dont think they carry any serious disease,try nippon liquid,from hardware stores,seems to work for me.

We occasionally have the same problem and now use an excellent device called Ant Stop Bait Stations, which come clipped into a red cardboard container. They consist of two black round plastic containers which contain ant bail. You just pull off little clips on the containers to allow the ants access to the bait, so there is no messy spraying of white powder or sticky Nippon gel. The ants love it ! Initially they will come streaming in and you feel they're being encouraged rather than deterred, but all of ours completely disappeared within 48 hours.

This stuff is made by The Scotts Company of Surrey and should be available from any good garden centre of hardware store.

As stevie says, they don't carry any diseases, and like him, I use the Nippon, its very good.

I had this problem a few weeks ago and got the ant baits but also put a line of nippon powder all round the outside of the house. Don't know which one was more effective but the little blighters have now disappeared!

find the nest and boil the kettle cheap and effective

agrees with dave here , I had loads of ants outside the house , but just at the front door , I called an extermiator and he told me ...{aw hell find the hole there coming from and pour boiling water over it }
I mean I woulda paid for him to come and do it , but he insisted that would be �40 wasted ...{whata good guy}
and low and behold it worked.

also you can make a chalk line awhere they enter your home and the ants will not cross it.
