Does anyone know any pubs in Birmingham and Manchester that serve good real ale which do not appear in either the Good Beer Guide or the Good Pub Guide ? An address of the pub would be appreciated so that I can find it !!!

I don't know if it's in any of the guides or not but the Marble Arch on Rochdale Road in Manchester is a really nice traditional pub with lots of original decor and real ales. On a less traditional note, they also do really good curries!
In Birmingham, just off the Harborne High Street (South Street or Bull Street I think) is a pub called The White Horse which serves a selection of guest ales. It's always busy and well worth a visit. Again I am not sure if this is in any of the guides.
Starman... Would you mind telling me, please.. Where did you get the nickname.? I have a reason for asking...but I'm afraid for personal reasons I can't tell you what it is...

Tommy C - It's a reference to my favourite band, Rush. And if you look at their tour dates you will notice that they are playing in Birmingham and Manchester on there upcoming tour, and you can guess that I will be attending both shows !!
