We all had experiences but never spoke about them until after we moved. A neighbour told Mum that after she'd seen us all go to Work/School she would often see a dark silhouette of someone stood at the front bedroom window. After we did move the new owners only stayed three months.
When I was a student my housemates and I were convinced the house was haunted and we were often so scared that we all slept in the same room.
We happened to meet the bunch of guys who had the house after us, and they were also convinced something was going on.
Looking back now, there were rational explanations for every weird thing. It's easy to spook yourself.

I lived in a haunted house. It was over 300 years old.
There was lots going on. I was in the kitchen one day, saw someone walk past the door, heard footsteps up the stairs and along landing. Thought it was husband. He was still in the garden, no one upstairs. Another time I was in the kitchen and received an enormous smack on the backside. Again no one there.
Next door neighbour told us they had a ghost of an old man who came and sat on their bed. He had been visiting for a few years and they were happy with him.

The dead won't harm you. It's the living you have to watch!
The George Inn at Frocester here in Gloucestershire has lots of them. there is one that likes to rattle things in the kitchen, Room 2 has a resident ghost. Vera and I used to book that room when we went to the Frocester Beer Festival. It's only about twenty minutes from here, but driving after lots of quality control is not a good idea, so we stayed the weekend. The first weekend the 'resident' made it's presence known, I told it to behave or go away, but not that politely! We had no more trouble from it.
The pub is on what was the main coach road in days long gone. highwaymen were tried in the pub by a local judge and were hanged on the gallows tree just outside. hence lots of unseen residents. None of them are malicious, just mischievous.

I was painting in our soon to be new home after our marriage when I heard footsteps on the stairs.
(I was alone)
Happened a few times when I was on my tod, eventually thought the previous owner had died in the house and told him his family had moved and we were the new owners.
Never heard them again.

I believe my grandads spirit follows me around.
But I was in our first house. We had an open plan living dining area. I was in the dining room on the computer and I was alone. All of a sudden the DVD player disc drawer opened. I thought it was odd because the DVD player was switched off at the wall. Went over it WAS off at the wall and the DVD player was also off...so how did the drawer open?

^^^ many witnessed by several people and they were inexplicable. e.g. rocking-chair was moved away from the fireside(had belonged to a long-gone relative) and began rocking violently on its own. Presumably a protest. Did it once or twice then stopped. I have it now and it is perfectly chair-like! Don't worry, just live with it.
There's £50,000 a year waiting for some brave young lady:

I lived in a 3 storey house when I was a kid and I always used to hear noises at night. I had a large stuffed penguin that was permanently on top of my wardrobe and one night it flew off (no pun intended) and landed on my bed. I started screaming and my mum came in, put the penguin back on top of the wardrobe, and told me to stop being silly!
