Poor Cat

our cat Violet Elizabeth Bott has died she was 16 yrs old and we rescued her at 5 weeks and fed her with a pipette, the vet said he didn't think she would make it, but who I really feel sorry for is her boyfriend a nice black & white cat, he sits in our arbor patiently writing for her and has come through our cat flap to look for her in the house, Miss Bott was a tart and would go out I the middle of the night to meet him, he comes here every day bless him, he looks well fed & cared for, he is definitely a stray or I would take him in, so sad there is no way to let him know what has happened.

thanks to everyone who cares, I am going to knock on a few doors and explain to the owner, he is outside again now. The first time I knew they were an "item" was when I came home one afternoon opened the front door and this cat was coming down the stairs followed by VEB with tail in the air, they took one look at me and carried on slowly down the stairs walked passed me into the kitchen and out the cat flap, no panic no picking up the pace just as though it was their daily routine !
I will get another cat after a while, not a kitten but an older female cat whose owner has probably died and needs to be loved again.

My two are siblings - they hate each other. My girl cat is evil and stupid and her brother is just a cowardly lion.

Dee Sa - it was lovely that Ms Bott had a friend to play with and do 'cat stuff'. You are right not to consider getting a kitten - they are hyperactive monsters with very sharp claws. They do look cute though.

Just wondered no offence meant, my cat is called Betty because I got her on the day that Betty Driver (Coronation Street) died.

I totally agree with others, the best way is always to let them see the dead body. I have done this in the past with my pet rabbits and it does work, they can then 'move on'.

Heartbreaking. I'm sure 'boyfriend' senses she has died. Sad time but lovely memories too. x
