Just How Low Can Some People Get?
Three months? To me that isn't long enough for the despicable thing this person has done.

There may well have been people who photographed bodies 15 years ago, but as there was no simple way of distributing them the world would seldom hear about it. My guess is that he did it not just because he could, but because he could then publish online; without that platform, I doubt he would ever have thought of doing what he did. (I'm not blaming FB; he and he alone was responsible.)
As to whether the punishment is enough I don't know, it's still not a common crime; but it's a fair bet he'll be inside longer than the people responsible for building the deathtrap tower block, which I personally consider far worse behaviour.

As with any thread that carries a 'How could someone ...' message - the answer is always the same.
If you are asking that question, it's because you are assuming that there is a rational thought process at work here, and you want to know what that is.
That is where your thinking parts company with the thinking of people who do things like this.
It's pointless to look for a rational reason for this behaviour -there isn't one to find.
Yes, this man dreamed up a (facile) reason for his action, but the truth is, he wasn't actually thinking at all about what he was doing, or why, or whether it was right or wrong.
These concepts require an ability to think rationally, and with an element of intelligence. Sadly, neither are pre-requisites for ownership of a mobile phone, and access to social media.

I see absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with taking pictures of dead people (and/or distributing them via social media).
The UK is one of very few countries where our media shy away from posting pictures of corpses on the front pages of daily newspapers. In almost any other European country (e.g. France, Germany or Italy), where they're not so reticent to depict death, the guy would have been paid a large amount of money for his photographs to adorn every news-stand in the country.
Exactly the same should have happened here.

Chris, your stance doesn't surprise me knowing you as much as anyone on here can - but I do disagree.
Years ago it was common to take Photographs of deceased family in all manner of poses and of course parents still do of their deceased children, but not for gain or to shock - that is different.
As is War Photography.
Thank goodness we are all different in our views.
