How to make a newly opened milk carton pour properly?

I buy 1 litre cartons of semi skimmed longlife milk from the supermarket (yes I know but I actually prefer it to fresh). When I've just opened one, it seems almost impossible to pour any milk out without it glooping all over the table, dribbling down the sides of the carton, and generally doing anything other than pouring nicely and neatly. Once about a fifth of the milk is gone, it pours okay. Why is this? What can be done about it? If someone has a suggestion I'd like to know, or else I'll have to track down the designer of these cartons and immerse their head in a bucket of milk as punishment for annoying me.

If you open the carton as normal - then pull the flap away from the other side(same end) to make a > shape. Then snip the end of it off with some scissors - The milk should pour out nicely - failing that - do the same and pour it out of the hole you've just snipped. The milk gloops because the milk coming out and the air that replaces it are both going through the same hole - a bit of milk out then a bit of air in. Someone showed me this when I had the same problem with a tin of Carnation milk.
I find that if you cut off the corner as normal, then stab a little hole in the top of the carton (anywhere you like), with a sharp knife, the little hole lets on a bit of air and the milk pours out nicely. Works on all cartons.

Will this work for the cartons I use that have the plastic pouring spout - these aren't the cartons with flaps either end
It will work for any type of carton. just make the small air hole in the top at the other end from the opening.
You should all follow the instructions how to open, if you do this properly the milk will pour properly!

Hmmm, let's see... flip up plastic lid, peel back foil, tilt carton, pour... yep, I've been very, very carefully following those 'instructions' with frequent checks to make sure I'm not straying in any way from them, and I still get milk dribbling and glooping everywhere but in my tea.
One of the best ever television news clips was the Austrian minister who was introducing the new milk carton. He was given one and tried all ways to open it successfully. He was lent a pair of nail scissors by someone in the studio. Then he got milk all over his suit.
