Thank you, Mamya. Caustic soda - that explains a lot. Be grateful you two never heard of it. Didn't matter how poorly I was, I always said I was fine just so I didn't have to take Kompo.

I was reminded of J Collis Browne's Compound - which (bizarrely) was used to treat "coughs and diahorrea" (a dangerous pairing ...)

To my horror, the stuff still contains morphine and is still available over the counter at a pharmacy !!!
