moving to Tokyo

Hi there,
My husband has been given the possibility of being transferred to Tokyo with his work. We have five children and I did live in the orient as a child.

Has anyone any experience of living in Tokyo with a young family. I am aware of the extionate costs of living in TOkyo, but are there any other practical issues that anyone would like to warn me about.

Also, what things should I take with me, and what things should I leave behind?

What would be a good ward to look at for renting in? My husband would be working in Chiyad-ku? We would like to be within a relatively quick commute on the excellent MTR.

After praying for a drastic change and hoping it would be for a more simple rural life, we have been faced with this instead. I'll say one thing, God has a keen sense of humour!!!!

My friend and his wife started out in Tokyo, but when it came to starting a family, they decided to move to Fiji; I think it was a lack of open and living space - and they'd been used to SIngapore!

Thats interesting to know about your friend.

DTP is going well. I have a friend who is coaching me. It turned out in the end that I knew too much for basic classes and not enough for more specialist ones so I'm just kinda doin my own projects and asking for the help when I need it. Very frustrated though that you can't group text and graphics together in word. That would be a very useful function. Still, hey ho. Thanks for asking too, you remember me; that's really sweet.
