Hillsborough Prosecutions.

How do you feel about the CPS decision to bring charges over the Hillsborough deaths? I could never imagine the pain suffered by those who lost love ones that day and there was undoubtably criminal negligence, but after 28 years is prosecution the best way forward. Having lived for sometime in the USA, I have always thought that we should consider a Statute of Limitations. Can justice really prevail after 28 years.

we did - we gave it to them - First one 1614 I think

there isnt one for murder or modern sexual offences

let me report something I wrote earlier

For the Oirish Bombers ( Reade Schedule - was that Brum or Guildford ?) the magistrate Bartels refused to send the indictment onto the Crown Court as it was such a longtime ago and the police couldnt get a fair trial after 20 years. Also subject to an appeal where the court said - yeah we agree with that

I had forgotten that Dukinfield has been convicted and acquitted over this before 1999. so they have to get that set aside under current legislation. ( otherwise he enters a special plea of autrefois acquit and walks free)

It does seem a very long time- but people are still living with the after-effects. I don't think you should give up on justice just because the system is slow.

Pixie....the overriding reason that this business has taken so long, is because there had to be a second Inquest, as the Police had lied so badly at the first one.

The evidence will be presented and tested against the standard of proof.

This test applies irrespective of the passage of time.
