The stuff I have stored up there over the years, if only I could get up there now, it would be like a trip in the past.

Yes, I regularly go up there with easy stairs access.

The combi-boiler is at the far end (once I've waded through some strange plants that I've no idea what they are).

I must get round to quizzing my partner about them :o(

Its pretty sparse, its being about five years since my brother helped me double insulate up there... and even then the mystery continued as to how a table got up there resting on the rafters the dimensions of which are far greater than the hatch, and no structural intervention is apparent at all.

Mention of insulation reminds me of moving from our previous house. We had had the insulation upgraded a couple of years earlier, when we went up there to get ready for moving we found that because part of the loft is boarded they had simply piled up all the stuff they couldn't lay and it was almost five feet deep in places.
