i have just had a speeding ticket. Doing 40mph in 30 mph zone. Their is no sign to say camera in force. No police officer stopped me. There is nothing apart from a small police station adjacent to a round a bout. Where do I stand in contseting this speeding ticket?
Yes their is a sign of 30mph hour. That sign is on the road itself. My gripe is that this speeding tick is by stealth. Is there no law that displays, "camera" sign?
The general idea of a speed zone of say 30 miles an hour is that it is the designated safe speed for the WHOLE of the zone, not just the part where you think the police might be!!
I don't think there has to be a sign 'near' the camera to say there is a camera. A sign miles away saying 'speed cameras operate in this area' is enough - or ought to be.
Whether there is a sign near the camera or not has ISTR a bearing on who gets the revenue from the fine - if there is one the local authority/police get it to spend on road safety. If there isn't the treasury get it.
Abers 5 daniel 0. Glad to see your responses folks. How naughty of the police not to tell us that they might try and catch us speeding without telling us.
Thanks to all who responded especially the funnies Gef and Rojash. On a serious note. Does any one know of any person or cases that has gone to court and beaten a speeding offence? Any case I can refure too? Cheers
