Look as if the Council is in deep do-do over this. which might explain the fiasco at last nights Council meeting.

Nick Paget- Brown has gone
too silly to fall on his sword - he was probably run thro
advised to hold a private secret council meeting - Lord Love us
he should have realised that they have to be in public ( now )
presumably he was saying that the west ken cabinet meeting wasnt a council meeting
[ and having recovered from the shock of another Aber reading my post and then saying PP was right in one post above...]
a media law expert has said that discussion of the fire is not against the law ( fear of contempt blah blah blah) as the enquiry is chaired by a judge and judges arent compromised by this sort of ya-ya

Some of us have short memories. The fire worthiness of buildings was once controlled by the Fire Service through the dedicated fire prevention officer. Who was liable to turn up with a full crew and do on the spot inspections of premises to to identify what precautions were required to receive the fire certificate. There was no appeal any work required had to be done within a given time limit before a certificate was issued. This responsibility was removed from the fire services and the onus was put upon the landlords to make their own fire risk assessments, in the 1990s by the then Deputy Prime Minister as a cost cutting exercise, One John Prescott. Murderer?

Whilst I could believe anything of the Bliar Government, this accusation against Prescott sounds bogus. 1997-2001 he was responsible for Transport, the Regions and the Environment, none of which would give him any remit over housing and fire standards.
I would be happy to be proven wrong if anyone has a link to back up the allegation, but it sounds inprobable.

I have just heard on the Today Programme, that at least one tenant has just had the DD for the rent go through his bank account. As the disaster happened on the 14th June, you would have thought that there has been plenty of time too stop DD's being requested. Its only a clerical function, after all.
Here is a photo of Grenfell Tower, before it was cladded :::
https:/ /en.wik ipedia. org/wik i/Grenf ell_Tow er#/med ia/File :Grenfe ll_Towe r,_Lond on_in_2 009.jpg
We are told that one of the main reasons that the cladding was installed was to make the building more attractive, but is it so ugly in the above photo ?

// Doesn't that require for something to be reasonably foreseeable. //

17 April 17 - it is a pretty boring rag and I was throwing them out a day or so ago and found front page of the issue of 17 Apr 17. Drawing conclusions from smaller fire in Feb which everyone seems to forget. It is usually headlined : " 2.5% increase in woo-woos for the Spangle Bangle Housing association." "This morning, the junior minister for housing, dowsing and browsing ( books only subdivn ) announced a virement and top slicing for one armed old people (English)......." etc
honestly it is game over for negligence
altho game on for gross negligence
( running a risk which is adverted and pointed out - you have to show notice on that one and I suppose Nick Rich-*** will say " oi navver!" - )
it was those sort of questions that he thought - I speculate - he could discuss in private in the aborted meeting ...

// at least one tenant has just had the DD for the rent go through his bank account.//
the council went home on the first week end didnt they
and when asked why said: because it was the week end.
Some sense of urgency. .
it is such a disaster than no one want to run West Ken area apparently. The idea of a commission is "undemocratic" - "we dont want to be shart upon" is more like it.
Big comparison to Hurrican Katrina and FEMA
