Scratches on glass

I have a glass top coffee table and its scratched. Is there any way to 'polish' the scratches out?

Hi Sally

You can buy stuff called Jewellers Rouge, but not sure where - u might have to google it.
It might depend on the depth of the scratch how good it works tho.

As Wee Al says, jeweller's rouge will probably sort you out, so long as the scratches are not too deep. Available from all good jewellers.... lol.... I would ask in an independent jewellery store first, they are more amenable to unusual requests like this ! You just have to rub a little of the very mildly abrasive paste onto the scratch and hopefully it will fade away ! If that doesn't work, ask in the jewellery store if they know of a good glass merchant who can replace the glass top for you.

Wee Al - I've had a (tiny) pot of jeweller's rouge - probably about 10 ml - for the last 10 years and am only half way through it ..... so it lasts a long long long time ! It is more likely to predecease me than empty out...lol

A cheaper way would be to try some toothpaste. Its a mild abrasive so may work just as well. Polished some small scratches out of a watch face using a bit of Colgate.
Try it on an inconspicous bit first in case of any problems.
