What is it with these ladies and their plaits. Watching Azarenka, she won't serve unless her dainty little plait is over her left shoulder!! And she is not the only one.

I've said it before but, if you want maximum OCD/ritual, Mr Nadal is right up there with the best of 'em.

The Serbian Chin hates to bounce a ball too.

Almost all players have their own little quirks.

Some accept any ball given to them - some want three, chose two and reject one. Some pull their clothing before they serve, some bounce the ball in a certain way - it helps them to do what they do.

The plaits seem to be 'a thing' for female tennis players, and have been for years (always blonde, never seen a brunette plait on a tennis court).

Nadal is the worst for tics before serving. Drives me nuts.

Djokovic used to annoy me by bouncing the ball about 30 times before serving. He doesn't do it so much now.

It's quite strange watching footage from years ago when players would take the first two balls given to them, wouldn't need a towel in between every point and didn't have a sitdown between games.

'Queen' Mary Pierce used to be fantastic with her long plait, had to be just perfect before she would serve !!
