I think it would stop them getting so many cards for dissent, diving and faking injury. The managers would stamp it out and improve the game over night.

I don't think it will, there is little advantage in football for 10 players to play 11, teams that get a man sent off, as the rules are now, just become more defensive, they'd get as many men behind the ball as possible, all that would happen if the '10 minute sin bin' rule is applied, is they'd just 'kill' the game until the player returned, rugby is different, played on a bigger pitch, where a man short is a great advantage. In football, I think that retrospective punishment would change the game, a group of ex pros, ex refs, ex managers etc should watch controversial points in ALL games on the following Monday, if any player is deemed to have dived or cheated in anyway then a few games ban be applied, without appeal, this would soon stamp it out.

danny, a yellow card would mean 10 minutes off.
Fair comment saint peter but in reality it would not happen much because after an initiual period of getting used to it the managers would put their teams in order so a yellow card would become much rarer than now.
