Since I have refurbished bedroom and living room I have about 5 lamps to give away. Is there any charitable shops which will take them because I have heard they don't take electric items.

They don't. Are you on FB? They have loads of giveaway sites. Or try Freecycle
I believe charity shops will take them once they have had them thoroughly tested by an electrician, and have been tagged to say they have been checked, but why not sell them on a boot sale?
Some charities do, it's worth asking them
Or your local Gumtree.

I don't want money for them but I do loathe throwing them out. They are lovely lamps.

All big lamps - one when lit up has the skyline of New York City - belonged to late brother but I need to get rid - no room no more.
Quite a few charity shops won't accept portable electric appliances because they've got nobody to carry out a PAT check on their safety. However that still leaves quite a lot which will accept them (because they've got electricians who volunteer to do the testing).

In mainland UK the British Heart Foundation has specialist shops selling only electrical goods and furniture. They've not got any such shops in Northern Ireland but it might still be worth checking if they'll accept your lamps:

The British Red Cross similarly accepts electrical goods in their specialist shops but the only store in Northern Ireland is in Ballymena:

Oxfam accept electrical items, e.g. at Dublin Road, Belfast:

(They'd probably take your lamps at any of their shops, even if that particular shop doesn't sell electrical stuff, and forward them onto an appropriate branch):

Barnardo's accept electrical goods:

I agree with the others , ask a few charity shops - if they don't take them they may know who does.

Also Freegle or any Charity that helps people settling into a new home which is often unfurnished.
Chris made my post redundant :-)
