Net Neutrality

There was an item about this on the BBC News (between 5 and 6 am) but I missed it.
Only bit I gathered was it was something to do with Internet Companies operating some sort of go-slow in protest at something.

Could some kind person enlighten me please?

(I know I could use a search engine but I think I'd still be none the wiser!!)

Presumably, yes.
Net neutrality is the principle that all data on the internet should be treated the same, hopefully a simple explanation here

As I see it the Internet isn't owned by anyone, folk put their servers on the Net if they want. But the result should be the same for all who use it. If certain commercial concerns want preferential treatment/priority let them get together and produce their own private Net.
