How to get good prices on carpeting
4 Answers
I'm going to re-carpet almost an entire house - five bedrooms, hall and landing, two receptions. I can't stand laminate - hideous stuff. I don't want offcuts - I want a flow of colour through the house. I want to buy decent quality with underlay but the total cost terrifies me. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the best possible price?
The place will be completely empty so they get a clear run at it, and I can wait so the installers can fit me into their schedule as they please. Anything else? e.g. web-based firms with lower overheads? Firms in northern France? (I'm in SW London) How do you find out if someone's selling an end of line range?

Often you may get a great deal on the carpet only to have some contract fitter turn up who, let's say doesn't have a great deal of pride in his work.
Happened to me, the guy was on the 'phone the whole time, left before he'd finished to go to a more prestigious job promising to come back.
He didn't come back ! Any whilst his carpet fitting was acceptable, the lino was appauling and has had to be replaced.
Because he was under contract the supplier was slightly less than interested.

I used to work in a carpet shop so realise that not all fitters are created the same!!
Your best bet would be to get an independent fitter that can come round with samples.
I am still in contact with a couple of good ones if you want their number. they work around the epsom area so would be able to get to you.
good luck
