thanks alba - if there was some nearby proverbial - I would happily be happy in it right now.
Not twin carb you pretend-you-know-cars person you but it is a rare automatic.
first ever car I bought was a twin-carb Maxi, gawd, it was a tank.
Brilliant car!

Bazile - let go of your prejudices - the first maxi got a justifiably terrible press but the Maxi 2 was much improved but by then it was too late.
Both my Maxi's (yes I have 2) are Maxi 2's

There was an Austin ambassador (the successor to the Princess) that sold through ebay recently. I was very tempted.
