I'll let the powers that be sort out if any prosecution is necessary.
one less thieving lowlife, result.
Rob the Co-op armed with golf clubs and baseball bats, and die. Sounds like a good enough warning to me. Give the bloke who stopped the toe rag a medal. Notice no sympathy for the shop staff who were put through hell, or condemnation of the accomplice who drove a motor onto the pavement to free his criminal sidekick. Co-op lives matter.
I for one have sympathy for anyone involved in this awful attack, shop workers and customers alike.

I was however answering the OP...

The friends of the thieving piece of poop want him prosecuted, the police should simply say "sorry, no case to answer"

Dave.
Dave....I expect they will.
I would be surprised if it came to that too.

I cant believe people are giving, i wonder if any of the money is stolen.

Dave.

If the person who stopped him had just restrained him (with whatever physical force was necessary) I don't think that would be any likelihood of the 'hero' getting prosecuted.

But if he he continued to physically assault him past that stage and, in this case, resulted in the death of the bad guy. Then a prosecution should be considered.

Maybe the have-a-go-hero is a really nice guy but he could also be a bigger piece of scum that the deceased.

The just giving page seems to show one person giving £1,000 and other friends make up about £350.

Wolf, the one that gave the 1k is a friend as well, i had a look at his facebook page.

Dave.

Someone with that sort of money to give away may not have earned it in a totally honest way.

Did you see the muscles on the dead guy? Makes me wonder what the other guy was like. :-)
It is difficult to muster up any sympathy for the deceased but *any* death occuring outside of the many variations of 'natural causes' has to be investigated. The formalities of 'arrest and interview' must be crried out on anyone suspected in playing a part in that death. It doesn't necessarily follow that any prosecution will follow but establishes the parameters under which the Police can and must operate, and protects the (potentially) accused.

Tut tut, that's the age of austerity for you amongst our "underprivileged", would have been at least double without the "cuts". Still a few more "deals" and they will get that back in a trance.
Do the £1000 and £350 translate into real cash or are they promises to pay their deceased 'bro', really just another way of saying 'look at me'?

Anyway, one less worry for locals and law enforcement alike.

AOG - thanks for the link. They weren't exactly master criminals were they - raiding the Coop.

I feel sorry for the guy that got arrested, there is always going to be the morons that will believe that he is guilty of murdering their pal. I am sure that the autopsy will answer a few questions.
