http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/sexually-abuse-children-compensation-refuse-consented-12-year-old-charities-criminal-injuries-a7846406.html

A coalition of children's charities have claimed that the government have been refusing payouts to child abuse victims since 2012 on the grounds that they "consented" to the abuse.

The Ministry of justice has not denied these claims and has instead insisted that they are reviewing the relevant procedures, in addition to co-operating with the IICA.

Should these victims have received the money or is this yet another sacrifice we have to make to balance the books?

This was highlighted with the Rochdale grooming scandal. They should pay these victims retrospectively and most definitely review their guidelines
I'm not sure whether you should receive money or not tbh but it shouldn't be refused on the grounds that it is being refused ... that is for sure.
Yes, I agree. Kids as young as 12 are not capable of giving consent.

Have we learned nothing from all the recent child sexual abuse scandals ?
As Talbot says, no money should be paid but the reason given should also not be used if it is.
Seizing the assets of proven abusers and putting it in a fund to be distributed to victims could be a start.

Terry and her pals have so many other calls on our cash after all, so many worthy projects, 'good causes' and foreign despots to shell out to.
I still think victims should not receive money, compensation leads to false claims and that helps no one.

Any money going should be used to buy good quality private professional help for them.
YMB...to be honest, that is not the problem here. Some children have had their stories queried and that was the cause of the problems in the first place.
