You can get a weed killer called 'clovertox' thats specially designed for the job, where clover is considered a lawn weed.
I'm gonna stick my neck out and suggest, its not clover that you have but a similar weed that may have inadvertantly come in with you new plants. I think it could be oxalis, its leaf is clover shaped, green or sometimes red, when it flowers its usually small and yellow and spreads like wild fire, all you can do is keep pulling it up every time you see it but you have to make sure none of the root or bulbules are left behind.
Weedkillers can have some effect such as 'Roundup' and repete applications will be nescessary or you could try a spot weeder around your plants. hope I'm wrong with the id. Good Luck.
I'm inclined to agree with Thuderbird if this weed is creeping all over your soil that is is actually oxalis and not clover although the leaves do look fairly similar. Does it have tiny little white nodules at the end of the roots? If it does, it's oxalis and it's an absolute b****r to remove. It is slowly taking over all my borders and vegetable patch and as I try to be organic, the only way to clear is is to dig every little bit out, making sure that not one single tiny root nodule gets left behind as this plant can regenerate itself quicker than mice breed. Whatever you do, don't throw it on your compost heap. Keep all these weeds separate and put them in the dustbin. I'm afraid that if it's oxalis you will be battling with this weed for ever.
