I have read that if you put a dry towel in a tumbler dryer with the wet washing it saves drying time and is, therefore, cheaper as less electricity is consumed.
Apparently, if the towel is left in for too long it has the reverse effect.
How long should the towel be left in the machine for maximum efficency, please?

I understand that the time factor is 15 to 20 minutes. You will of course have to think about what you do with the then wet towel that is taken out of the dryer.

Anyway, I don't think that is any real scientific evidence that the procedure does save electricity.

Hans.
