I heard this morning on the news that British Gas are to put up their electricity prices by 12.5%. That sounds like a lot to me.

Yes, They say it's the first rise for 4 years and they are still one of cheapest and vulnerable customers won't pay the rise- but the market is still broken in my opinion as companies rely on obfuscation. I regulary switch but that isn't easy as the comparison sites are misleading (in that they show savings by switching which compare the new price with what you would pay if you moved onto your current supplier's standard tarrif at the end of current term which may be next month rather than with what you are paying now. I could give other examples too of why they are misleading))

///Centrica said the price increase was its first since November 2013, adding that British Gas was one of the last suppliers to raise prices///

That's not so bad after all then, is it?
Go on fiction factory - please
I thought we were all in this together ?

If 1% is good enough for the Nurses and the Firefighters, why isn't it good enough for British Gas, an already wealthy company ?
Gas and electricity always hold us to ransom because they know we need them !
Never mind....Mrs May will sort this out, when she returns from the Alps....after all, wasn't there a plan in the Tory Manifesto, to cap energy prices ?
I hope so mikey.
Oooops too late !
Oh dear !....I forgot....the Tories had to throw out that promise, when Mrs May lost her working majority.

We all depend on electricity so much now dont we.
We all take it for granted.
Caring Government,
I bet very few BG customers will move supplier or even see if there is a cheaper rate within BG.
