Eccles, OK thanks ....that makes sense as liver disease is the commonest cause of ascites and if drained before, then it sounds as though it may need draining again.
I will presume that the "liver disease" that you mention is not due to malignancy which would put a different slight on your question....but it sounds very unlikely.
Ascites is usually a consequence of heart insufficiency (great circle of circulation disorder type) or liver failure (often when it's cirrhosis/chronic hepatitis/cancer). It's not connected with abdomen type but really depends on age, cardiovascular system condition and other risk factors such as high weight, smoking, previous heart attacks or inborn malignancies.
