For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.To the best of my knowledge, although this was possible in earlier versions of Open Office, via an extension called History Master, this is no longer available on OOo 4.1 so you are stuck with the default list of the last 10 most recent docs. The answer therefore seems to be to create a number of ficticious docs so that the one that you want to remove works its way to the bottom of your list!
I've found a slightly better "Workaround" as follows:-
Open "Open Office Writer" then go to Tools - Options - Open Office - Security - Macro security. Clicking on the Macro Security button will probably show that "Very High" or "High" has been checked. Change this by clicking on "Medium", then OK - OK
Next download this:-

OpenOffice.org Macros will download a file called "RecentFilesListChanger..."
Open this file and then click on Enable Macros.
You can change the number in the "Number of Entries" box, which will have a default of either 10 or 12. (Note: If you select a lower number the list will be reduced to this but if you subsequently decide to revert to the higher number you'll not be able to see the removeed entries but subsequent documents will be stored up to the higher number that you've set.)
I still can't find a way of just removing one entry from the middle of the list .
When you have finished using the macro it is a good idea to go back to the Tools - Options - Open Office - Security - Macro Security and reset the security to Very High or High.
I hope this helps

The link that I've just posted should be all three lines of this, not just the first line which seemed to be the only line underlined in red as a hyperlink:-
