wondering what happens when your credit card is recalled by a machine.Stupidly, I cancelled my credit card, and then found it, and then used it in said machine. Will they contact me, or just destroy the card?

When you cancelled the card they would have closed down the account with that number, so the card will be retained and destroyed. Did you ask them for a new card? If so, when it comes it will have a different number on it, but your balance (if any) will be transferred to it.

A strange but true story, which is not gonna make you full of confidence. My mother's friend recently put her card into the machine and looked at her balance. When she tried to withdraw money it kept her card. When she entered the branch she filled out a form to get it sent back to her and left. On her way home home she was in her purse and found the card she thought had been chewed by the ATM. She then realised that it was her Nectar card which she had put into the machine. Finding this quite disturbing that she could look at her balance with a nectar card, she told the branch, who basically told her she was insane, to her dismay.
