Classmates Who Died Young

A bit of a sombre thread but Elvis' anniversary got me thinking yesterday about a school mate of mine who was born the day he died.

Yesterday she would have been 40 but sadly she died at 21 from an unconfirmed drugs overdose.

Another friend, with whom I was very close, died Christmas Eve 1999 from cardiomyopathy. Her death was very sudden. She would have turned 40 on 11 August this year.

Then another classmate who'd had a crush on me for some time died at 27 from a heart defect. He could have gone much earlier had it not been for open heart surgeries.

Lovely people, gone too soon.

Did you lose any school friends way before their time?

HereIam...yes, i am not very close them.......have had them as kids, educated them, tried to teach them right from wrong. They have got married, had children moved away and brought their own children up in the way that they had chosen.
I really see them.....perhaps every 2 to 3 years plus the telephone calls at Christmas, some emails and that is that.
My priorities changed when they had their own families and moved away.

A girl I used to babysit was murdered by her lover when she went back to her husband, that was shocking as it happened in a tiny hamlet not far from where we grew up!

When I was at Primary School a schoolmate was dragged underneath a bus when a toggle on her coat caught in the door. The bus stop was yards from where I lived.

No note, Nom. I often think some people are born with some sort of self destruction gene.

A bloke I knew very well (he dated the sister of my then GF) went missing in 92 and hasn't been seen since. I believe he was bumped off and buried, he kept some very dodgy (gypsy) company.
I put his name in google and found this odd sight.

Half sisters son died last year aged 24, accidental prescription drugs overdose, she is still utterly destroyed :(

yeh, my dear friend Selina. She had Cystic Fibrosis, she died in 1978 when we were all 13yrs old. Heartbreaking. Her younger brother had it too, thankfully still alive. I heard hes living in warmer climes to help with his lungs

I have no idea.... absolutely no knowledge of what happened to those I was at school with.

quite a few; 1 murder, 2 suicide, 4 illness, 2 road traffic accidents all under 25...

None that I know of, thankfully.
But my sister in laws much younger brother died in his 20s of aids-related illness.
And then there are the clients at work. The most recent being a young girl of 18 or 20...of an overdose.

There was a girl in my school who was off sick for months. I remember the teachers asking the kids to record tapes for her. She was mentioned in a couple of end of term assemblies but we were young and didn't realise how ill she was (kidney cancer). In the summer holidays my Dad (who knew her family) came home and said "That maid at M...... has died". Her brother passed out when they told him. The shock of it triggered the same cancer in her father and he died 6 months later.
