Which jobs best suit to having a dog?
4 Answers
My partner and I really want a dog, it's just having the right lifestyle to have one...does anyone have any top tips on which jobs/careers work best with having a dog? I'm more than ready to change mine so that we can have a dog!
Many thanks!

The type of work you dont want is shift work for example if you work at the airport as you will never be able to say when you will be home.
You should try and find a job that is regular, so your dog can be taken for walks and fed about the same time everyday.

I think dogs are like children and have to work around your lifestyle. If you are getting a pup then you can train them to fit in with you. If you are getting a rescue dog then you'll need to tell the rescue centre about your lifestyle and they will match you to a dog. As long as the dog is getting fed, watered and exercised regularly I don't see why you should have to change your whole life.
One that lets you stay at home with your dog as much as possible. If you are out from 9 - 5, that's 8 hours without even taking in travelling time. Then there aer the 8 hours you are asleep at night. So the dog gets to see you for 8 hours at the very most.
You should also think about committing to not going out in the evening if you've been out at work.
How about finding a good dog sitter in your area (not kennels), where you can take your dog for the day. They'll have fun with all their other doggie friends, and be walked, and you'll get them back calm and ready to be cuddly in the evening.
